Ta trena

March 2016 – Athens, Greece

Τη νύχτα πάντα περνάνε τα τρένα που έχασες. Εκείνα τα τρένα που περνάνε μόνο πολύ αργά, ή πολύ νωρίς, ή τη στιγμή ακριβώς που δεν τα περιμένεις.

Park Güell

April 2015 – Barcelona, Spain

Photo taken by Vasiliki Papacharalambous

Eusebi Güell gave Gaudí the assignment of drawing up plans for developing an estate for well-off families on a large property he had acquired. Its location was unbeatable, in a healthy setting and with splendid views over the sea and the Plain of Barcelona. Allowance was made for some 60 triangular-shaped plots on the estate, with a complex network of paths, viaducts and steps to cope with the lie of the land.

Güell wanted to recreate the British residential parks, which is why he named it Park Güell, in English.

Gaudí respected the vegetation that was already growing on the property and when new species were introduced, he opted for Mediterranean plants that did not require much water.

Koukounaries

August 2015 –  Skiathos, Greece

The busiest member of the Sporades group Skiathos, the most cosmopolitan island in the Northern Sporades, is truly a paradise on earth, with lush pine forests and crystal-clear azure waters.

Despite the rapid growth in tourism here in recent decades, the island is still picturesque and unspoilt and blessed with more than 60 beautifully clean beaches. The most famous is Koukounariés, which has been declared the third most beautiful beach in the Mediterranean.

When you add in its bustling nightlife, it is only natural that the island attracts thousands of young visitors every year… and even more Cypriots!!!

Palacio Del Flamenco

Flamenco is a form of Spanish folk music and dance from the region of Andalusia in southern Spain. Flamenco is often associated with the gitanos and a number of famous flamenco artists are of this ethnicity. It is known for its emotional intensity, proud carriage, expressive use of the arms and rhythmic stamping of the feet.

Words really can‘t describe just how magical and perfect that night was. We were witnesses to an explosion of emotions and feelings … an embrace to Spanish dance, music and culture…

Santa Maria Del Mar

Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, is defined by quirky art and architecture, imaginative food and vibrant street life.

The city is also home to the famous 5 km shopping line. The shopping line stretches from the top of the Ramblas, through Plaça de Catalunya along Passeig de Gràcia and up Avenue Diagonal. The photo was taken outside one of most beautiful examples of early Catalan Gothic architecture, Santa Maria Del Mar, which is usually filled with street musicians, fortune tellers and painters.

Barcelona is a destination I always wanted to go and definitely didn’t let me down.

Motion

March 2015 – Moscow, Russia

Photo taken by Vasiliki Papacharalambous

Photos taken with a camera do not represent a single moment of time. Due to technological constraints these shots stand for some scene over a brief period of time. In motion blur, any object moving with respect to the camera will look blurred or smeared along the direction of relative motion.

The photo was captured at the main street of Moscow, Tverskaya street which starts from the Kremlin and goes north through all Moscow. Tverskaya street is a wide central avenue bustling with life but the life around the street is quite calm, and it’s one of the nicest areas to walk around or to go out in Moscow.

That night we walked to Chicago Prime Steakhouse restaurant for dinner and enjoyed the experience of digging into a tantalizing filet mignon and rib eye steak…watching Liverpool playing against ….’don’t remember team’ and winning !!!

Sedona

August 2014 – Sedona, Arizona

Photo taken by Vasiliki Papacharalambous

Sedona’s a stunner, but it’s intensely spiritual as well – some even say sacred. Nestled amid striking red sandstone formations, Sedona attracts spiritual seekers, artists and healers, as well as day-trippers from Phoenix trying to escape the oppressive heat. Many New Age types believe that this area is the center of vortexes that radiate the Earth’s power, and Sedona’s combination of scenic beauty and mysticism draws throngs of tourists year-round.
